HCAP Inc. Accomplishments since 1999 (in formation and in no order):
 
  • Successfully reinvented the Partnership twice since being established in 1999.
  • Breaking the Barriers Symposium on Substance Use with consumers, service providers, and policy makers in 2000 at the New York Academy of Medicine
  • Legislative Breakfast on Alternatives to Incarceration, 2001
  • Co-planner and sponsor of the Northern Manhattan Asthma Summit, 2007
  • Faces of Urban Health Conference at Touro College of Pharmacy, 2010
  • Conducted Community Capacity Center Seminar Series 2004-08
  • Administered a mini-grant grant program in 2002
  • Policy Work Group self-published two policy research reports on community reintegration of individuals who are formerly incarcerated-- available under "Publications"
  • Over 85 peer-reviewed and non-peer reviewed publications including chapters of books and curriculum.
  • Annual presentations at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting, 2001-2012
  • Profiled as 1 of 10 case study in Policy Link Report
  • Co-author of the CCPH CBPR Curriculum –  www.cbprcurriculum.info
  • Served on the National Institutes of Health Council of Public Representatives, 2006-10
  • Board Member of Community Campus Partnerships for Health 2011-14
  • Served as a consultant on numerous research studies and initiatives focused on promoting and conducting CBPR, community engagement, and translational research
  • Provide coaching and consultation to community-based organizations interested in or engaged in community-academic partnerships on conducting research using a CBPR approach
  • Co-sponsored numerous local community efforts including city council candidate forums, emergency preparedness,
  • Organized and co-sponsored Policy Research Analysis and Advocacy workshops for community leaders 2008-09.
  • Participated in statewide coalition to successfully lobby for New York State legislation to authorize Pharmacists with the power and authority to administer immunizations.
  • Sponsored PROJECT VIVA (Venue Intensive Vaccinations for All) – www.projectviva.org and its second generation study PROJECT VIVA Harlem. 
  • Contributed to the codification of the ESAP (Expanded Syringe Access Program) law in NYS as a result of our multi-level intervention
  • Member of CCPH Speakers Bureau
  • Invited to give lectures, presentations, and coaching sessions to a broad range of constituents including community, academic, government, and public health sectors.
  • Co-sponsored the NYC Community Partner Forum held in March 2012
  • Planning Committee Member of the National Community Partner Forum (Boston, Dec 2011; TBD Dec 2012)
  • Established a website presence with www.hcapnyc.org
  • Co-founded the East Harlem Emergency Preparedness Collaborative in 2013
  • Gained 501c3 status in 2013
